An Exciting Year Ahead…

Following the Christmas and New Year festivities I am back at my desk and normal service has resumed! 2010 is gearing up to be a very busy year for both curator and collection.

In the next several weeks I will hopefully be visiting Wuhan Museum to secure a loan from their fantastic collection for the China: Journey to the East exhibition which will open in September, and also strengthen cooperation between both museums.

In February I will  be working with Mary MacFarlane from the University of Manchester School of Arts, Histories and Cultures, to run an innovative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender history month event at the museum which will explore issues of queer identity and representation. Once I have more details I’ll be sure to post them up.

Towards the end of the year we could even see the arrival of a very special piece of Oceanic sculpture from the collections of the British Museum…watch this space!
